Some quick updates before WordCamp!

With just 1 week until WordCamp Boston (can you believe it?!), I wanted to go over a couple of hot topics to help you navigate #wcbos.  Most of this information will be printed on your nifty badge when you get to registration at 8am Saturday morning.

Parking:
Parking will be open from 7am to 7pm at Warren Towers Garage on the corner of 700 Commonwealth Ave. and Hinsdale St.  The cost has been lowered from $15/day to $12/day!  The garage will close at 7pm each day so please plan accordingly.  If you plan on attending the after party at Game On! (see below for more details), there are other parking lots around the area to park for the remainder of the night.

Venue:
The George Sherman Union building or GSU, will be our main venue located at 775 Commonwealth Ave. Boston.  We are located on the 2nd floor and we will have gracious volunteers guiding you upstairs.  There is an elevator available to those who need one.  The map of the venue and where respective sessions are located can be found here:  https://2012.boston.wordcamp.org/venue/floorplan/.  We will have volunteers who can always point you in the right direction if you get lost!

Sessions:
There will be 3 simultaneous tracks designated for appropriate learning levels/topics.  Please feel free to attend any session your little heart desires!  Each session will be filmed and should be online within the month or 2 following #wcbos.  Be sure to thank your camera man!  A table schedule can be found here: https://2012.boston.wordcamp.org/schedule/ with details on sessions here: https://2012.boston.wordcamp.org/sessions/.  Again, all of this will be on your badge!

Food:
Food for the event will be handled by our venue sponsor, Boston University.  Breakfast Saturday morning is sponsored by WP-Engine and will be available from 8am to 9:30am.  Lunch at 11:45am is sponsored by ZippyKid.  Please try to adhere to your original food choice as we have plenty of vegetarians and vegans.  If you are a late-registrant (we know who you are 😉 ), please wait until the “normal” registrants have received their lunches.  We will have afternoon snacks on both Saturday and Sunday, sponsored by A Small Orange and Wordnik respectively.  Please be sure to visit their sponsor tables (along with Manage WP) to thank them!

Happyness Bar:
The happyness bar is our lounge where you can sit down with one of our WordPress experts for some 1-on-1 interaction and help.  Our happyness bar will be available all weekend for those who need some advice.  It will be staffed by speakers as well as one of our sponsors, Shareaholic.  If you are interested in speaking with someone, please check in at the happyness bar registration and they will be sure to set you up with one of our resident experts!

After Party:
Our after party, sponsored by Oomph will be at Game On! (our reception venue sponsor) right in the heart of Fenway.  This event will be 21+ so please plan accordingly (there have been some discussions with the city and we were unable to obtain an 18+ license and for that we apologize).  Game On! is located at 82 Lansdowne St. in Boston.  Please join us for some appetizers (on us and Oomph) as well as some cold tasty beverages.  We will be located downstairs on the left as you enter the venue and we will have the entire downstairs to ourselves.  OH! And there may be a chance to use the visitor’s batting cages (the same ones visiting teams use), so come by and take a look (we can’t promise availability and disclaimers will need to be filled out before use)!

Sponsors:
We obviously couldn’t have put this event together without the generous donations of our sponsors.  A huge thanks to our platinum sponsors Oomph and ZippyKid, gold: WP-Engine, A Small Orange, Wordnik, Manage WP, silver: WooThemes, CodePoet, 10up, Growth Spark, Pagelines and Shareaholic.

And a big thanks goes out to you too, because without you, our Boston WordPress community wouldn’t be what it is today!

See you all next week!
Kurt and the #wcbos organizers
